The Speaker of the House has announced they plan to privatize Medicare with a voucher system and private insurance. We must be alert to what the proposed changes may be.
R. I. P. BARBARA VEECH: from Deena Frakes
Barbara Veech, 81, Postmaster Retired Cornland IL, passed away on December 29, 2016. Following a brief move to Jupiter Florida to work at Community Federal Savings and Loan, Barbara returned to Illinois in 1965 and served a 35-year career with the USPS. During her career, she served as: Secretary/Treasurer of the Illinois Branch of the National League of Postmasters; Secretary of the National League of Postmasters' Executive Board in Alexandria, VA; and Director of Meetings and Conventions for the National League of Postmasters for 30 years. She received many prestigious awards during her postal career, one in particular, the Oscar Pogue Award-the highest honor awarded to any member of NLP. During the last seven years of her postal career, Barbara owned and operated Flowers and Fantasies in Mt. Pulaski IL. Barbara and Delmar enjoyed traveling to many national cities, took many cruises and visited ancestors in Ireland. Cards may be mailed to the Veech Family at PO Box 48, Cornland IL 62519-0048.

I visited Ted McCord yesterday and he was in good spirits after a brief stay in hospital. He would like to thank everyone for the many cards and messages he received. It is amazing how that card in the mail can make you feel so much better!
